| UPGRADES/INSTALLATIONS
You've got a shiny new iMac or MacBook and you fire it up for the first time - the screen says 'Welcome To Macintosh' and it guides you through a couple of basic settings. But some of the settings aren't so basic. Are you adding a machine or replacing one? Do you need to transfer data and Applications from an older machine? Do you already have a netowrk to log into, or do you need to create a new one? Once you get past these basics, what Apple don't tell you is that they've released 500MB-1GB of updates to your System software since they made your Mac. They don't tell you about the 'free' software that you should have that's not included in your computer. They don't automatically set up you email and printer and scanner. Later on, your AppleMac is ticking over nicely, and you've been ignoring those online Software Update bulletins from Apple, Microsoft, Adobe and Quark (or you 'forgot' to register these products in the first place. And now you've got some new software or an upgrade that won't work as it should with your current set up. Installing software and upgrades can be daunting if you don't know which options are best suited to your needs. Knack4Macs can take the helm and navigate your Mac through these rough waters so that the System and the software work for you, and not the other way around. |
