Knack4Macs was founded by former music business professional and Mac guru of 19 years experience, Barry Golin. He'd been a production artist at the birth of the desktop publishing revolution and created some of the first digital design tools for EMI Music using an AppleMac PowerPC and QuarkXpress. Digital design lead to digital communications, where he helped put together the first pre-broadband digital artwork network, acting as technical advisor to a communtiy of almost 5000 users in design, production and print in 40 countries. In founding creative services agency, Morebass Media in 1996, by ten years later, nearly half of all calls were for technical services from Mac users. Knack4Macs was born - officially, in January 2007.

Golin has been an on-again, off-again beta software tester for Apple, Adobe and Quark for 15 years. His initial Mac training was in Los Angeles, California at Mind Over Macintosh, with several technical courses at London's Media Training (where he has also taught).

Many clients have similar set ups, but almost every installation is unique to a specific user. Knack4Macs is affiliated with a small team of Mac experts who are in regular contact regarding all things technical. We work separately-together as a Mac Brain Trust to get you the best possible solution to your digital problems. See the clients page for different scenarios that may be similar to your own.

There are some machines that are beyond repair (no charge). And there are some that only Apple can fix (hardware, motherboards, etc.; callout charge only) Knack4Macs can handle virtually everything else - if it's a hard drive issue, a faulty installation, a corrupt file or a system fault. If we find out we cannot help you, we will refer you on to Apple or an authorised Apple Hardware Repair Centre better suited to your specific needs.
